“When you love someone, you love the whole person, just as he or she is and not as you want them to be.”-Anna Karenina
Happy Valentines day to you all from us at The Like Me CIC.
We should spread love and show our love for others everyday, but the 14th of February is a special holiday, it’s the one day of the year that is solely dedicated to celebrating our love, especially for romantic partners.
Do you have a Valentine? If not, be your own Valentine this year. Buy yourself some flowers or a box of chocolate’s and enjoy a candle lit bath, or whatever makes you feel loved. If you do have a Valentine, whether that be a friend or your partner, make sure to celebrate them and show them how much they are loved by you.
Always choose love. We show our love to others by respecting and valuing them and their needs as well as our own. Everyone is worthy of love, no matter their religion, ethnicity or politic views as these things don’t define us.
You don’t always have to show your love with grand, romantic gestures. Things as little as a smile or a friendly compliment are an easy yet lovely way to show love and kindness to everyone we interact with.
Everyone has their own love language
Words of affirmation, communicating your love by saying kind and supportive things to your partner.
Quality time, spending meaningful time with your partner where you are truly present.
Physical touch, being very close and affectionate with your partner.
Acts of service, doing helpful things with or for your partner.
Receiving gifts, surprising your partner with things that reminded you of them.
Finding the time to understand and get to know what your partners love languages are will really benefit your relationship as you’ll be able to make them feel fulfilled and truly loved.
No relationship is ever perfect, there will always be disagreements and heightened emotions at times but how arguments are handled and overcome are very important to maintain a healthy relationship, whether that be with a friend, family member or romantic partner. No matter what, respect for each other should always remain.
All relationships require commitment and trust by staying faithful and loving towards each other. Respecting each others boundaries and beliefs. When you’re in a healthy relationship you should be able to fully trust that person and feel safe and comfortable around them.
For a relationship to stay healthy, you must learn how to peacefully communicate with each other and learn what each others love languages are to avoid a lot of miscommunication and arguments.
