World Kindness Day was observed across the globe this past Saturday 13th November to celebrate being kind. But what does it truly mean to be kind? Is kindness the norm? Do you want to be kind but are unsure how to? Or perhaps, you’re not too sure what the point really is? Read this article to find out!

What is kindness?

‘What is kindness?’, you may ask. Kindness can be a positive act towards somebody but the meaning of kindness can not be defined as it’s differs from person to person. The meaning of kindness is in how you choose to show it. And it can be demonstrated in so many different ways!

What’s the point of being kind?

There’s a whole reservoir of reasons for why we should be kind including the fact that one act of kindness holds the power to brighten someone’s day! Through small acts of kindness, we can have a positive impact on someone’s life, sometimes to an extent that we can’t even imagine! But one saying that particularly sticks out to me is that when we help, we get help. Why not change our routine to inculcate intentional moments of kindness? These intentional moments of kindness positively affect our wellbeing & improve our life. Such is the power of positivity!

Whether it be positive self-talk, building healthy habits or acts of self-care such as reading your favourite book or setting aside time for downtime, consciously do acts of kindness for yourself too.
